Bologna's Artistic Alleys: My Encounter with Street Art
Discovering Bologna's Street Art Scene
One of my favorite things is to meander through the streets of cities that are somewhat unfamiliar to me. Bologna, while not entirely unknown, always feels like it's brimming with new discoveries around every corner. This sense of exploration was exactly what led me to a fascinating discovery while strolling with a friend. The poster above caught our eye, introducing us to the Cheap Festival.
The Allure of the Cheap Festival
As we encountered these striking street posters throughout the city, my curiosity was piqued. I learned that the Cheap Festival is an incredible 100% Italian initiative, embracing street art and inviting artists of all kinds to participate. I had the chance to speak with one of the founders, Sara, who explained the simplicity yet depth of the project. Artists submit their work during the open call, and the team selects the best pieces that align with the year's theme. These artworks are then printed and displayed across the city's walls – a truly immersive art experience.
Music and Culture in Bologna
My visit to Bologna was also marked by attending Tycho's concert on October 27th and Mogwai's on the 29th – both phenomenal artists whose music I highly recommend.
Stay tuned for my upcoming post about my latest trip to Turin and the incredible places I explored there!
